The New Mexico State Auditor's Office sent out communication regarding changes to the 2017 State Audit Rule last Wednesday morning. The changes relate to giving an opinion on every fund and due dates for submission for certain entities.
In previous years, the State Audit Rule required us, as auditors, to give an opinion on every fund, including all nonmajor funds. In 2017 the State Auditor will no longer require us to give an opinion on every fund. The nonmajor funds will still be presented in the financial statements as supplementary information but the budgetary statements will no longer be required to be presented.
The second change is related to due dates. See the new due date by agency type below:
Most notable of these changes are the state agencies being moved up one month to November 1st and counties being moved back to December 1st.
RPC is committed to our state and local government clients and are here for you year-round. If you have questions on any of the upcoming changes please don’t hesitate to email me at email@example.com or give us a call.
We will also be providing training at various conferences throughout the State. If you want to know when/where we're presenting or if you'd like specialized training, we are happy to help.
